Mar 14, Colombo: The Sri Lanka Army charged the LTTE for killing an underage boy who joined an exodus of 58 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to flee LTTE-held areas in Mullaitivu, yesterday.
The army headquarters said that 21 males, 15 females, 11 boys and 11 girls were on their way to security forces seeking protection against LTTE atrocities when LTTE indiscriminately opened fire at them killing the minor and injuring four more.
However, the IDPs have managed to reach the cleared areas with the dead body despite the LTTE gunfire. Troops have immediately arranged medical treatments for the injured, defence sources said.
Despite pleas from world organizations and foreign governments to allow the civilians to leave the conflict zone the LTTE continues to fire at the fleeing civilians.
