Advancing troops recover many Tiger vehicles

By Srinath Prasanna Jayasuriya

Military sources said advancing troops in the Puthukuduyiruppu area in the Vanni recovered more than 400 vehicles abandoned by the LTTE within the last 10 days alone. Among these vehicles worth millions of rupees are jeeps, vans, armored trucks, bulldozers, backhoes etc.

Civilians fleeing Tiger controlled areas told troops that the LTTE had seized many vehicles belonging to civilians that had been used by them to come out of Killinochchi and these vehicles were later used by the LTTE for their terror tactics.  Military sources said the Tigers are in the process of fleeing and were unable to safeguard any of their possessions.
