China to assist Sri Lanka with one million dollars

May 05, Colombo: The government of China today announced a one million U.S. dollars humanitarian aid package to Sri Lanka to help the civilians affected by the conflict in the country's North.
China's Foreign Ministry announced today that they have taken this decision after considering the situation in the North.
According to Chinese news agency reports the Chinese government has said that they hope to see the early realization of peace, stability, and development of Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, such as food, shelters, and sanitation for around 200,000 Tamil civilians displaced by the conflict between the government and Tamil fighters, said the spokesman for Chinese Foreign ministry.
According to the spokesman it was in the fundamental interests of the Sri Lankan people to maintain social stability and realize national reconciliation, and it was expected by the international community.
China, a crucial diplomatic supporter of Sri Lanka is presently, the largest donor funding several development projects in the country.
