Tuesday, May 12, 2009, 6:37 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 12, Colombo: Canada said that Tamil-Canadian protests in the country show that that the terrorist organization is part of the demonstrations.

Minister of International Co-operation Beverley Oda told media that "the flags being flown would say to Canadians that ... the terrorist organization is part of the demonstrations that happened."

Oda says she has seen red flags being flown at the protests bearing the symbol of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, a terrorist group banned by the Canadian government.

Thousands of people who flooded onto the Gardiner Expressway yesterday left only after receiving assurances that the Liberals would raise their plight in Parliament.
